The Survival Water AgNP with HOCl Water Purification Tablets

For over a century, chlorination has been a cornerstone of public health, significantly improving access to safe drinking water worldwide. In Vietnam, where natural disasters like floods and typhoons frequently contaminate water sources, the need for reliable water purification is critical.

  • Over 1.1 billion people globally lack access to “improved” drinking water sources, with Vietnam’s rural and disaster-prone areas particularly affected due to frequent flooding and typhoon-related water contamination.
  • Contaminated water contributes to 4 billion annual cases of diarrhea, with unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene causing over 3.5 billion cases, accounting for 5.7% of the global disease burden.
  • In Vietnam, waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery are exacerbated by natural disasters, claiming numerous lives, especially among children under 5, who account for a significant portion of the 1.8 million annual global deaths from diarrheal diseases.

The Survival Water, a Vietnam-based initiative, developed its water purification effervescent tablets to address these challenges. Designed for emergency situations and everyday use in areas with limited access to clean water, the Survival Water tablets provide a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution to ensure safe drinking water.

  • The Survival Water is committed to improving public health in Vietnam by enhancing access to safe drinking water, particularly in disaster-stricken regions. “Household water treatment is a low-cost, high-impact solution that delivers significant health and economic benefits, especially in emergencies.”

The Survival Water tablets are effervescent, killing microorganisms to prevent waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Available in various sizes, each tablet treats a specific water volume, from 25L to 10,000L, making them ideal for both household and emergency bulk water treatment.

The Survival Water tablets use an organic chlorine-releasing agent that, when dissolved, releases hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a powerful disinfectant naturally produced by the human body to combat germs. The active ingredient, Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC or SDIC), ensures that the majority of the disinfectant remains as HOCl, which is highly effective at lower doses compared to bleach.

Unlike bleach, which creates a highly alkaline solution (pH 12–13) and produces less effective hypochlorite ions (OCl-),

WHY THE
SURVIVAL WATER
CHEMISTRY
IS SUPERIOR

The Survival Water tablets maintain a pH-neutral solution, enhancing safety and efficacy.

Additionally, each tablet contains a proprietary blend of nano silver (AgNP), sized 450–530nm, dotted on a neutral carrier for non-toxicity. Nano silver, used for centuries to keep water safe, enhances pathogen elimination while adhering to WHO guidelines (0.1 mg/L for drinking water).

The Survival Water tablets are tailored for Vietnam’s needs, addressing both routine water purification in rural areas and emergency situations like post-typhoon flooding, where water sources are heavily contaminated.

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC or SDIC) is approved by:

  • WHO – World Health Organization
  • UNICEF
  • EPA – US Environmental Protection Agency for routine drinking water treatment
  • FAO – Food and Agricultural Organization specifications for drinking water

Nano Silver

STANDARDS

  • Germany’s drinking-water regulations (Trinkwasserverordnung): 0.08 mg/L maximum for silver.
  • WHO guideline: 0.1 mg/L for drinking water quality.
  • EPA: 0.2 mg/L equivalent level for nano silver in drinking water.

WHY
CHOOSE
THE
SURVIVAL
WATER
TABLETS?

  • Vietnam’s water sources, especially in rural and disaster-affected areas, often remain contaminated post-filtration, requiring effective disinfection.
  • The Survival Water tablets enable rapid, infrastructure-free chlorination, ideal for Vietnam’s flood and typhoon-prone regions.
  • Simple to use, easily transportable, and affordable, these tablets are accessible to low-income communities and emergency relief efforts.
